Summer Activities in Mission Viejo

Summer may be winding down, but here in Mission Viejo we still have a couple more months of heat! Our own community actually offers a lot of fun, accessible, family-friendly programs for us to enjoy. Don’t let the back-to-school blues stop you from taking advantage of community programming for the rest of the summer!

Library Activities

Mission Viejo offers a lot of fun activities to help you beat the heat through the Library Activities! The library regularly offers multiple book club meetings, a teen anime club, and coloring classes for adults! If you are 18 or older and are interested in joining The Brown Bag Book Club or the Monday Night Mysteries book club, you can register at the Ask Here desk located in the Mission Viejo Library in the Civic Center. Both of these clubs meet one Friday per month to discuss their current book of choice.

The teen anime club is a free program open to teens ages 13-17. Permission slips from parents are required, and can be turned in at the Teen Services desk at any time. Members of the club get to watch anime movie screenings in the library every month!

Outside the Lines: Coloring for Adults is a free monthly program that does not require any registration. All adults are welcome to come and enjoy a relaxing session of coloring, with all supplies provided!

Arts and Culture

The city of Mission Viejo will be hosting arts events every week in August and September. What a great opportunity to enjoy some indoor air conditioning and escape the heat while having a wonderful and enriching time! From concerts to musical instrument tutorials to family-friendly painting classes, there is sure to be something for everyone! For more details about any of these events, check out the city’s arts and culture web page.

Family

In addition to all the indoor fun, Mission Viejo also has plenty of family-friendly outdoor opportunities to get out there and enjoy the sun! Sporting and swimming events take place all the time, including our monthly Pickleball Demo Day! If sports are your thing, our city is sure to have a program you’ll love.

As you and your family head out to these fun activities, remember to bring healthy, tooth-friendly snacks for when you get hungry. Our friends from Kids Healthy Teeth have a few fun suggestions for summer snacks from their resident pediatric dentist in Katy, Dr. Chen.

At New Generation Dentistry, we feel very lucky to be a part of such a wonderful and vibrant community. We hope to see you at some of these events! We look forward to catching up with you at your next appointment.
